Tôkyô monogatari is the kind of film that reminds me why I love movies. The direction, score, and performances all worked together beautifully. One of the strongest titles I have watched in a long time.

I had a great time with Tôkyô monogatari. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it. I would revisit this one later.

Tôkyô monogatari worked for me in pieces more than as a whole. There is enough here to stay watchable, even if it never quite takes off. It lands somewhere in the middle for me.
