Tôkyô monogatari is a very solid watch. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it. A strong movie night pick.

Tôkyô monogatari is the kind of film that reminds me why I love movies. Every major scene felt purposeful and the ending really delivered. This one absolutely lived up to the hype.

Tôkyô monogatari worked for me in pieces more than as a whole. There is enough here to stay watchable, even if it never quite takes off. Not bad, just not especially memorable.
