Tôkyô monogatari hooked me from the first scene. The performances, pacing, and emotional payoff all landed perfectly. This one absolutely lived up to the hype.

Tôkyô monogatari is a very solid watch. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it.

I wanted to like Tôkyô monogatari more than I did. The film feels longer than it needs to because the script keeps circling the same beats. It did not leave much of an impression on me.
