Tôkyô monogatari is the kind of film that reminds me why I love movies. The direction, score, and performances all worked together beautifully. This one absolutely lived up to the hype.

Tôkyô monogatari is decent overall but uneven. The performances are solid, but the emotional impact feels inconsistent.

Tôkyô monogatari kept me engaged for most of its runtime. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it. Definitely worth recommending.
