Tôkyô monogatari kept me engaged for most of its runtime. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it. Definitely worth recommending.

I had a hard time getting through Tôkyô monogatari. The performances could not overcome how messy the material felt. Definitely not for me.

There were a few decent ideas in Tôkyô monogatari, but they did not add up. A few moments work, but the execution feels flat most of the time. There were not enough standout moments to save it.
