Tôkyô monogatari starts with some promise but loses steam quickly. The film feels longer than it needs to because the script keeps circling the same beats.

Tôkyô monogatari has some strong moments. A few scenes really work, but the pacing dips in the middle. Not bad, just not especially memorable.
