City of God kept me engaged for most of its runtime. It balances entertainment and character work better than most films in this lane. Glad I watched it.

City of God kept me engaged for most of its runtime. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it. Definitely worth recommending.

City of God worked for me in pieces more than as a whole. The performances are solid, but the emotional impact feels inconsistent. It lands somewhere in the middle for me.
