The Shawshank Redemption kept me engaged for most of its runtime. It balances entertainment and character work better than most films in this lane. Definitely worth recommending.

I liked parts of The Shawshank Redemption, even if it did not fully come together. The performances are solid, but the emotional impact feels inconsistent. Not bad, just not especially memorable.
