American Fiction worked for me in pieces more than as a whole. A few scenes really work, but the pacing dips in the middle. I can see why some viewers would like it more than I did.

American Fiction is a very solid watch. It balances entertainment and character work better than most films in this lane. I would revisit this one later.

American Fiction kept me engaged for most of its runtime. There are a few familiar beats, but the execution is strong enough to carry it.
